‘Seven Wonders of Nature’ promoter is no more

The man who has been undertaking the promotion of ‘Seven Wonders of Nature’ in Tanzania, Mr Herman Minja, died last weekend and was buried at his Marangu home village in Moshi rural district, Kilimanjaro region on Saturday.

Of late, Mr Minja, who was also the Managing Director of ‘Minc Company Limited,’ had been encouraging local Tanzanians to vote for the three local entries into Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders of Nature in which 12 features from all over the continent have been enrolled.

Tanzania has fielded Serengeti National Park (Great Wildebeest Migration), the Ngorongoro Crater and Mount Kilimanjaro, the three features that have made it into the top seven in the initial wonders placing.

Through his company, Mr Minja had set up a number of voting booths in Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Dar-es-Salaam in which he would help local residents to cast online votes for the three Tanzanian entries and the efforts have been going on well.

“Most Tanzanians do not have access to computers, let alone the Internet and the voting for ‘Seven Wonders’ must be done online, therefore I have taken the initiative to assist them to vote in our booths free of charge,” Minja once told the media here.
